4-H EXECUTIVE TEAM MEETING SUMMARY
for March 20, 2009

Meeting called to order by Melba Riel at 10:12 am.
Those in attendance: Melba Riel, Corinne Olsen, Anita Raddatz, Cheryl Bartholomew

Discussed items to be put on April 8th 4-H Council meeting agenda:

1. Do pledge of allegiance and 4-H pledge.

2. Discuss previous council meetings minutes and vote to approve them.

3. Financial report-Anita

4. Executive Team meeting summary: discuss in council meeting any items discussed in Executive Team meeting that are of importance to the council.

5. Reports:
a. Nominations/elections committee: (Karen)
b. YLT/Ambassadors: Need mentor for new year starting in May
c. Service-National Federation for the Blind (Karen)

d. Expansion & Review-Anita is sending a survey in April by mail to all enrolled leaders. Surveys due on May 1st.

g. Sanpete County Fair: Anita reported that she attended fairboard meeting. Sandi Schoppe wants the exhibit building to close at 6pm. If this is what happens this year, Anita would like to keep our side open longer. We would find a way to close off the open exhibit section so we could do this.

7. Current business:
a. Themes for monthly workshops: Cheryl will check to see availability of Elizabeth Hveem to help.
April- Cancelled due to it being Easter weekend.
May- Entomology (Olsen family)
June- Plant Science (possibly Matt Palmer)-need to brainstorm for ideas
July- Heritage ((Cheryl)
August- Prepare for Fair (Melba)-Cheryl found the quilling tools, watercolors, and soap making supplies

Nov.- Holiday crafts

b. Selection committee for scholarship & ambassador selection: Melba, Anita, Debbie, maybe Matt Palmer or Mark Oakley will meet on April 16th, Thursday, at 9:30am to look over the scholarship & ambassador applications and pick winners. Next Exec. Team meeting same day @10:30am.

c. State contests: We plan to do the Talent Show and Demonstration contest in April. Cheryl will talk to Joanne Christensen about doing the Talent Show again (possibly first Sat. in April). Demonstration contest will be on April 18th at 2pm. We talked about not giving 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards. We would give Awards of Excellence to everyone for having the courage to participate. They would receive a comment paper with a checklist and other comments on it to help them to know how to improve their performance. However, we want it to give constructive criticism but concentrate on the positive values. Anita will prepare preparation sheets for each contest to help people get ready for the contests so they come prepared.
