4-H EXECUTIVE TEAM MEETING SUMMARY

for June 18th, 2009

Meeting called to order by Melba Riel at 9:40 am

Those in attendance:  Melba Riel, Corinne Olsen, Anita Raddatz, Cheryl Bartholomew

Discussed items to be put on July 11th 4-H Council meeting agenda:

1.     Do pledge of allegiance and 4-H pledge.

2.     Discuss previous council meetings minutes and vote to approve them.

3.     Financial report-Anita

Need to clarify insurance.  It covers 4-H non-members but no one under 5.  The other insurance covers members.

4.     Executive Team meeting summary: discuss in council meeting any items discussed in Executive Team meeting that are of importance to the council.

5.     Reports:

a.     Nominations/elections committee:  (Karen)

b.     YLT/Ambassadors:  (Cheryl/Elizabeth)-Got our food handlers permit.  There was a great turnout.

They will be doing 2 parades on July 4th.

c.     Service- Braille books (Karen/Cheryl)

      

d.     Expansion & Review-Anita (Going out tomorrow)

e.     County Clubs:  Need to tell clubs in the e-news that they can make a report about their clubs and we can put it on the website.

f.     Promotion/marketing:  Newspaper put in the wrong logo.  Needs to go in the e-news.

g.     Sanpete County Fair: Anita

Ron suggested that the YLT make a banner for the exhibit building for the county fair.

h.     Contests: Cheryl

During fair-  Fashion Review

6.     Website update :  Anita

7.     Current business:

a.     Themes for monthly workshops:  Need more hands-on, not as much talking in workshops.  We will not change the price of workshops until next year.    Proposed change is $1 for members and $2.50 for non-members.  Need to encourage people to join 4-H by Dec. 1st.

June 13th- Plant Science “Gardening is Fun” (office in charge)

July 11th- Heritage Trails(Cheryl) “All About Me” book will be the first activity while people are registering.

9-9:15am registration

August 8th Prepare for Fair “Strut Your Stuff” (Melba) –need to approve money needed for workshop & need    to check on availability of the courthouse.

Sept.12th- Marine biology (in charge?)

Oct. 10th- Perform & Record (who is in charge?)

Nov.14th- Holiday crafts (who is in charge?)

b.     JYC meals: Cheryl

Dave Hveem is getting most of the supplies for us and he will credit things that we don’t use.  Yearsley’s are doing the barbecued turkey meal.  Maverick is doing the sack lunches.

c.     Scholarships:  Go over and vote on changes made by executive team to application.  (See attached.)

d.     “Formula for Success” program: Cheryl and Anita

e.      Melba and the other officers will have a mailbox in Cheryl’s office.

8.     New business section to be addressed at next 4-H council meeting

June 29th-July 1st- Junior Youth Conference

July 1st- State Contest registration due

July 11th- 4-H Lagoon Day

July 13th-15th- State Contests

August 24th-Sanpete County Fair Entry day

Sept. 3rd- Entry day for State Fair

Sept. 18th- 4-H Day at the State Fair
