4-H EXECUTIVE TEAM MEETING SUMMARY

for July 17^th, 2009

Meeting called to order by Melba Riel at 10:50 am

Those in attendance:  Melba Riel, Corinne Olsen, Anita Raddatz, Cheryl Bartholomew

Discussed items to be put on August 8^th 4-H Council meeting agenda:

1.     Do pledge of allegiance and 4-H pledge.

2.     Discuss previous council meetings minutes and vote to approve them.

3.     Reports:

a.     Financial report-

       Debbie needs to help us fix the JYC budget.  Totals were misunderstood. 

a.     Nominations/elections committee: Elections are supposed to be held in August.  Melba is willing to be president if no one expresses interest by then.  Corinne Olsen is running for secretary again.  Melba will ask Karen Poe about the possibility of her being the president elect.

b.     YLT/Ambassadors:  (Cheryl/Elizabeth)

       Autumn Assisted Living contacted Cheryl and would like 4-H members to come and show some of the things    

       they are going to put in the fair.  Could maybe even have the kids do the talents or demos they did for the

       contests.  The dates available are August 10^th and August 12^th from 11-noon and 6-7pm each day.

      

c.     Expansion & Review-Anita reported that deadline has passed so she will prepare the report.

d.     County Clubs:  Birding/Needlework clubs-Melba

     Rabbitry-Flo Yearsley

     Scrapbook-Cheryl     

     GPS-Craig

     Craft club-Calan

     Needlework- in Gunnison

     

e.     Promotion/marketing: Anita

f.     Sanpete County Fair: Anita

       Barbecue on July 19^th for fairboard members to look over schedule.  There will be online training for adult    

       leaders to enter items into the fair on July 21, July 28, August 8, August 11, & August 18^th.  Tuesdays are

       from 1-7pm and Saturdays from 9-noon.  Leaders need to schedule ½ hour appointments with Cheryl.

g.     Contests: Cheryl

During fair-  Fashion Review

July-  State contest-discuss stipend of up to 50%, NTE $400 total- Council needs to vote on it.

          Suggest to those going that they should do 3 contests to make it worth                going.  Discussed that our county is not being fully informed of contests.

          Chaperone paid for out of 4-H budget.

4.     Current business:

a.     Workshops:

August 8^th-  Prepare for Fair “Strut Your Stuff” (Melba)

Sept.12^th- Marine biology (Cheryl/Anita)

Oct. 10^th- Perform & Record (Elizabeth will help)

Nov.14^th- Holiday crafts (who is in charge?)

b.     Scholarships:  Go over and vote on changes made by executive team to application.

c.     “Formula for Success” program: Cheryl and Anita

5.     New business section to be addressed at next 4-H council meeting

August 24^th-Sanpete County Fair Entry day

August 22^nd-29^th- Sanpete County Fair

Sept. 1^st-TLT applications due

Sept. 3^rd- Entry day for State Fair

Sept. 10-20^th- Utah State Fair

Sept. 18^th- 4-H Day at the State Fair

Voted unanimously to adjourn at 12:55pm with Motion 1-Cheryl and Motion 2-Corinne
